Good for you Pizza

I know you are thinking, why would i want a pizza recipe?  Pizza is the ultimate takeout food.  Yes but there might come a time when you will need to switch to a healthier version of pizza.  Pizza shop pizza is not good for you.  Very high in fat and calories and sodium- Heart attack to go!  We seldom buy a pizza since we try to follow a heart smart diet, I make our dough and fresh cut our toppings and buy the low fat cheese and turkey pepperoni and a secret pizza sauce.   At first yes it is not the same old friend but after a few homemade ones you actually don't care much for the pizza joint.

The homemade dough leaves such a nice bread aroma in the kitchen.  I do use a Bread Maker for the dough and love that piece of equipment.  You can purchase pizza dough in the frozen food section of your grocery store which is just as good.  You can even go whole wheat.
Dough homemade or store bought
Pizza Sauce is 1 cup of canned pumpkin puree + 1/2 can no salt tomato sauce + Italian spices  or if you want to buy pizza sauce watch your labels
part skim milk mozzarella cheese
Turkey Pepperoni - just pick up this one and the regular pepperoni bag and compare side by side on the Nutritional facts - better in calories, fat, sodium, 20 slices vs 15 slices
other toppings - Spanish onion, green pepper, mushrooms, pineapple, olives  - its up to you.  Bake on pizza stone at 425F for 20 minutes.  Rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
